There are many benefits in participating. Sharing a work-in-progress is an excellent way to receive constructive criticism in a supportive environment. Audiences ask questions, make suggestions, and celebrate successes with the filmmakers during a moderated conversation following the screening. In addition, screening your work during the Rough Cuts Review helps broaden your audience reach. This helps your film gain traction and support before it’s released.
Details from The Cary Theater website:
Rough Cuts Review is an open screen night for North Carolina filmmakers. The evening is an opportunity for filmmakers to show Rough Cuts of works-in-progress on the Big Screen, and to engage in conversation with other local filmmakers and the public about the material. Joe Partin, Cinema Studies professor, will lead the filmmaker and audience members in a respectful discussion about the work.
We accept 15-20 minute submissions of finished films, works-in-progress, and student films. All genres are welcome. Time permitting, we’ll screen longer works but we can’t guarantee individual screening slots over 20-minutes.
