Our branding is new.
This website is new.
Even our social media accounts are relatively new.
Given all of that newness you might think the TriFilm Society is new, too. Yet our humble beginnings trace back to 2009.
At that time, we noticed that there were small but mighty groups of filmmakers in the Triangle area of North Carolina. Although they were difficult to access by outsiders, they were doing great things.
The idea behind the first TriFilm socials was simple yet powerful: bring together our vibrant but fractured and difficult-to-access film community in a casual, comfortable atmosphere. That simple idea was represented in our logo and messaging:
Back then TriFilm socials were a bit different. They were held at a bar or brewery. There were no announcements or event agendas, except the chance to mingle with members of the film community.
While the casual atmosphere at our socials is preserved to this day, we have evolved over time to better serve working film and video professionals.
We began collaborating with businesses that had a vested interest in connecting with the community. Since then we have partnered with Trailblazer Studios, Poyner Spruill, Blueforest Studios, Myrida Media, and other organizations to host events. Working with these local businesses has been an incredible experience, and we want to do more of that as we move forward.
Now it has been roughly five years since our first #TriFilm conversation and countless socials since.
What have we learned since then? Quite a lot.
We’re putting all of those years of community building experience to work for you. As we announced at the social on Tuesday, June 23rd, we’re moving in a new direction. The TriFilm Society is once again evolving based on your feedback.
The TriFilm Society is now a paid membership organization that provides working film and video professionals the opportunities, resources, and connections needed to do great work. We are helping you build a stronger, more united film community that’s connected both locally and globally.
We would love for you to join. We are opening membership to a limited number of people soon. We will be sharing more details about this via email. If you would like to take part, please sign up for our emails below.
As always, we love hearing from you. Please use the comments section below to share your thoughts, feedback, and questions. The TriFilm Society exists to support you.
